School Business Operations
PRCSS provides tailored operational and business services to schools of all sizes throughout the state. In addition to serving as your school’s Business Administrator/Board Secretary, we can collaborate with your staff to develop your school’s operational capacity in the areas of finance, human resources, and facility management. We also specialize in providing charter school boards the information and support they need to effectively govern their schools.
Strategic Planning
PRCSS has worked with numerous charter schools throughout New Jersey in the development of their strategic plans. Planning is one of the core responsibilities of the Board and of school leadership, and we offer a range of plans to suit your budget and your needs.
Charter Renewal
PRCSS has worked on dozens of charter school renewal applications over the years for schools at all levels of student achievement and financial viability. Renewal is a time for schools to take measure of their progress and to form the goals, objectives, and strategies necessary to ensure sustainability and effectiveness. PRCSS offers comprehensive renewal services; in addition to working on written applications, we also conduct classroom visits, provide detailed feedback, and help stakeholders prepare for their interviews with the New Jersey Department of Education. All renewal programs are tailored to your school’s specific needs.
New Charter Implementation
It is no coincidence that PRCSS has been the consultant of choice for all newly approved charter schools in New Jersey over the past three years. We have extensive experience with the new school startup process and work closely with the New Jersey Department of Education to make sure our clients receive the Commissioner’s final authorization to open. We have assisted with more than dozen successful applicants over the past twenty years, guiding them through the application process and assisting with implementation. We are also among the few charter consultants who have assisted non-public independent schools through the conversion process to become public charter schools. Our commitment is to remain involved with new schools as long as they need us, often serving for the first several years as SBA/Board Secretary in the process.
Board Development
While all charter school trustees are required to complete the mandatory New Jersey School Boards Association training, there are many aspects of charter school governance that are not covered in the excellent Governance I, II, and III courses offered by NJSBA.
PRCSS offers targeted board development and training programs based on decades of experience and ongoing familiarity with the elements of public school specific to charter schools.
Consulting
PRCSS consults with schools on a wide range of topics, drawing on our team’s extensive experience, as well as on our network of public education professionals. Recent engagements include work on leadership and administrative support, charter amendment requests, comparative salary studies, reviews of a school’s business operations, facilities development and financing, and teacher recruiting and retention.
